Not Here

I've had this journal for what seems like forever. I've made a few friends here, but I'm far from being one of the popular kids here. The highest number of comments on a post has been eleven and that is without me commenting back, which I've usually done.

I've had so sort of blog at WordPress.Com for almost as long. I do like that site better than LJ. Yet, I can't explain why this is though. It could be because all of the Internet can read my entries without having to log in. Or maybe not.

Anyway, lately LJ has done some things that have been meant to be improvements, but in reality, it's gumming up the works. One, in particular, is that I can no longer comment on others' journals despite the fact that I've been a member here for over ten years. I keep this journal open just so that I can visit friends here and leave comments on their entries. Seeing that I can't do that now, I'll be keeping this entry on the time of my first page for awhile. Then, I'll be closing this account.

I Wrote Too Soon

In my last post I wrote about LJ trying a new format. It had looked as if they had decided to dump the new one, which I was happy about. Today I went to a friend's journal here at LJ. I clicked on 'view entry' in the email message I got. I landed on the new formated 1st page of LJ (totally boring, by the way), so I clicked on 'log in'. When I did this with the old format, I'd be taken to the page I was originally headed for. This doesn't happen with the new format though. I had to go back to the email message and click on 'view entry' again to see my friend's post.

Did They Decide to Dump?

For the past 2, 3, or 4 weeks, LJ has been trying to sell their clients on a new format for the site. I, for one, tried it and hated it. Did anyone like it? I really don't know. I'm hoping everyone feels the same as me.

Today I visited a friends journal because I got the notice that she had posted. The first page of LJ that I came to was the old format. BRAVO! With the old format, I can log in and immediately be tranferred to my friend's journal. This was something I couldn't do with the stupid new format.

I hope this is the end of that unfriendly new format.

The Yellow Lensed Glasses

Have you seen that commercial for the yellow lensed glasses? Actually it isn't a new idea. I used my mom's yellow lensed goggles the first time I went snow skiing back in 1970. Seeing that they were my mom's, the goggles had to have been at least 20 years old back in 1970.

Today in the mountains throughout the north part of Tennessee there lies 3 inches of snow with temperatures that probably won't get out of the single digits (Fahrenheit that is). Yet, the sun is shining brightly putting a blinding glare on everything. I wonder how many people in these mountains are wishing they had ordered a pair of those yellow lensed glasses.
